We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Construction to oversee and expand our construction services division. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Commercial Services, this senior leader will manage multiple projects, lead and develop high-performing teams, ensure quality and safety, and drive business growth. This role is designed as the successor to the Vice President of Commercial Operations, with an expectation to grow into that role within 3 to 5 years.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Project Oversight : Direct multiple construction projects from inception to completion, delivering on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Team Leadership : Assemble, mentor, and lead construction teams, including contractors and subcontractors. Establish shared goals and accountability to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Talent Development : Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities. Conduct performance reviews, give constructive feedback, and recognize achievements to foster engagement and retention.
Accountability and Culture : Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving. Promote open communication and effective conflict resolution.
Budget and Schedule Management : Develop and manage budgets, track costs, forecast accurately, and maintain project schedules to achieve milestones.
Quality and Safety : Enforce compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety requirements. Implement best-in-class safety measures across all projects.
Stakeholder Engagement : Maintain strong communication with clients, architects, engineers, and external partners. Represent BGI with professionalism and integrity.
Risk and Resource Management : Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and allocate resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, effectively.
Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and reports. Provide progress updates to leadership and stakeholders.
Business Development : Leverage industry relationships to bring in new opportunities, negotiate contracts, and lead proposals. Drive strategic initiatives to expand BGI’s construction services.
Strategic Growth : Contribute to company-wide planning and position the division for long-term success, with a clear succession plan into executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience leading large-scale construction projects and teams.
Strong background in value engineering, cost control, forecasting, and financial decision-making.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.
In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations. Data center experience is a plus.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and software.
Certifications preferred : Certified Construction Manager (CCM), OSHA 30, or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to grow business lines and develop client relationships.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to bring or build a strong “book of business.”
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
