Medical Assistant (MA) Oncology Clinic | Broken Arrow, OK

Job Type : Full-Time (Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM)

Pay Rate :  $17-$19 / hour

They are looking for a skilled and empathetic Medical Assistant (MA) to join their skin oncology clinic and contribute to their mission of patient-centered care.

Job Description : Responsibilities :

  • Patient Care : Assist with patient intake, including taking vital signs, recording medical history, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Clinical Support : Assist physicians during skin examinations, biopsies, and other procedures. Ensure all necessary instruments and supplies are ready and sterilized.
  • Patient Education : Provide patients with information about their conditions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care instructions.
  • Documentation : Accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and physician notes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Administrative Tasks : Manage patient appointments, handle phone calls, and assist with insurance verification and billing as needed.
  • Inventory Management : Maintain and order clinical supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are available and in stock.

Qualifications :

  • Education : High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.
  • Experience : Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, particularly in dermatology or oncology, is a plus.
  • Skills : Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain medical information to patients clearly and compassionately.
  • Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with EHR systems and basic computer skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills : A caring and empathetic attitude towards patients, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

    High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.

    Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, particularly in dermatology or oncology, is a plus.

  • Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
  • Operate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
  • Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.
  • Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
  • Greet and log in patients arriving at office or clinic.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
