Summary / Objective :
Design Fire Protection Systems for all types of projects including Industrial, commercial, and residential.
Essential Functions :
Designs layout of various types of fire protection systems including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, and deluge fire suppression systems supported by domestic infrastructure, fire pumps, and storage tanks on a wide variety of projects typesInterprets architectural drawings and specifications to develop complete fire protection submittal packages in accordance with the contract documents, building codes, and NFPA StandardsParticipates in BIM 3D Modeling coordinationPerforms hydraulic calculationsConducts field survey prior to fabricationCompiles stock lists, and prepares field installation drawingsPrepares closeout documentsPerforms facility commissioning of fire protection systems and / or investigate system failuresAssists field personnel in resolving design related installation issuesApplies sound fire protection engineering principles to troubleshoot and solve client related issuesPerforms other duties as assignedS upervisory Responsibility : No
Required :
2 - 3 years related design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferably in a construction environment)Must be able to complete design projects start to finish, while working independentlyMust be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skillsStrong communication and research skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detailWorking knowledge of AutoCAD drafting software and HydraCAD sprinkler design softwareExperience with at least one 3D CADD program and BIMProven examples of large contract work awarded during careerMust have advanced Microsoft Office skillsMust be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)Must adhere to all company policy and proceduresMust be available to work assigned schedulesThe work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following :
