Overview
About Multiply Labs
Multiply Labs is a cutting-edge startup based in San Francisco, California, supported by top-tier tech and life science investors such as Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. We are revolutionizing the manufacturing of cell therapies by developing advanced robotic systems designed to automate and scale the production of these life-saving treatments. Our robots empower biopharma companies to produce cell therapies at scale without significantly changing their existing processes, reducing regulatory barriers and risks. While traditional approaches are time-consuming and lead to extremely high costs for patients (typically $1M+ per patient), using robotics can make these transformative treatments more accessible and affordable to patients in need. To learn more and to view a video of our robots in action, visit www.multiplylabs.com and follow us on LinkedIn. You can also read our latest peer-reviewed study, which highlights the statistical equivalence between manual and automated cell expansion processes, at cytotherapy.org.
The Role
Senior Mechanical Engineer – you will apply your engineering expertise and technical leadership to design consumable components for complex automated machinery involved in the manufacturing of novel pharmaceutical products. This includes the design of robotic cartridges and adapters that enable robotic interfacing with commonly used consumables in cell therapy manufacturing (fluid transfer bags, bioreactors, cell isolators, reagent vials, etc). You’ll work directly with a cross-functional hardware and software team on designing and building the current and next generations of Multiply Labs’ robotic systems. This includes designing and selecting components for the robotic system, setting high-level design goals, building prototypes and taking them to production. You’ll succeed by iterating and optimizing design using first-principles engineering approaches. The role involves multiple concurrent projects at various maturities. Strong documentation skills and the ability to organize thoughts into actionable decisions are required to drive major project discussions while coordinating with colleagues.
