Kappo Masa NY is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and efficiency within the kitchen, as well as supporting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation and service. This position offers a lot of potential and growth within the Company.
Primary Responsibilities Include, but not Limited to :
- Cleaning and sterilizing countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills and sinks.
- Cleaning the entire kitchen once it is closed to ensure it is ready for the next day.
- Maintaining food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators.
- Receiving deliveries and organizing them in the kitchen.
- Washing cutlery and glassware, pots, cutting boards and pans or utilizing the dishwasher depending on the equipment being washed
- Providing assistance to the Prep Cooks and other kitchen staff as needed.
- Supporting the Chef de Cuisine in basic food preparation like cutting ingredients, peeling and washing food items.
- Following New York Department of Health standards, procedures, and protocols when completing tasks.
- Complying with all Company guidelines, training procedures, and performance expectations.
- Regularly attending to your shifts and complying with the Company’s protocols regarding all absences and tardiness.
- Handling all Company curated plateware and glassware with meticulous regard and care.
- Communicating with BOH or FOH management regarding all breakage.
- Assure all equipment is operating accordingly and communicating with management when there is a maintenance issue.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
2+ years of experience as a Kitchen Porter.Strong interpersonal skills.Knowledge of New York Department of Health standards and protocols.Analytical skills - the ability to compare, contrast and quality check work.Strong verbal communication skills.Familiar with hospitality industry’s best practices.Language Skills – Fluency in English is necessary to perform the job.
