Company URL : role within Berkley Life Sciences Legal Department is designed for a second- or third-year law student seeking a part-time internship during the academic year. The internship supports a wide range of matters including insurance contracts artificial intelligence (AI) governance and general legal issues. Its a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic legal environment while contributing to meaningful projects.

Under the guidance of the VP & Chief Legal & Regulatory Affairs Officer

  • Review and draft vendor contracts confidentiality agreements and other legal documents.
  • Perform legal and regulatory research and prepare comprehensive legal memos and reports.
  • Assist with artificial intelligence prompting and governance leadership including compliance.
  • Review and analyze policy manuscript form requests for intent compliance and clarity.
  • Review and approve various public announcements and marketing materials

Collaborate with other teams and departments to research and advise on legal and regulatory issues unique to insurance and life science customers.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Enrollment in an accredited law school as a second- or third-year student.

Bachelors degree from an accredited undergraduate institution

  • Youre a current second- or third-year law student enrolled in an accredited law school ready to dive into meaningful work and apply your growing legal knowledge in real-world scenarios.
  • You have a genuine interest in insurance law contract law and emerging technologies like AIand youre excited to explore how these areas are evolving.
  • Your oral and written communication skills are exceptional. You like to write. You know how to tailor your message to the moment and you communicate with clarity and purpose.
  • Youre calm under pressure highly organized and known for your integrity and follow-through. You enjoy collaborating across the organization.
  • You have a customer service mindsetresponsive solution-oriented and able to navigate conversations with professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
  • Knowledge of Lexis Nexis Westlaw and other legal research tools

    The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the scope complexity and location of the role; the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
