Co-Controller – Financial Control

This is a Co-Controller position sharing responsibilities with another Controller)

On-site role Mon-Fri (w / 1 hour lunch)

The Financial Control team (FINCON) is responsible for all accounting and tax activities of several North American business entities within multiple industries including ocean carrier agency, trucking, intermodal / rail, and real estate. We maintain and develop accounting principles, practices, and procedures in alignment with headquarters to ensure accurate and timely financial statements to external stakeholders and internal reporting to corporate management, as well as to stay in compliance with regulations. Main responsibilities include general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and budget and forecast development.

Co-Controller Job Responsibilities :

  • Co-manage, with another Controller, job performance of the GL Accountants and Treasury Analyst, Financial Assistant and assist with their professional development.
  • Oversee the preparation and ensure completion of inquires from Vice President of FINCON and HQ FINCON requests.
  • Review and approve general ledger entries (i.e., SAP) and review other financial transactions.
  • Review and approve the completion of and delivery of the month end, quarterly and year-end report packages to Vice President of FINCON and HQ FINCON.
  • Communicate with the team about accounting updates, issues and information in a timely manner.
  • Initiate, lead and review the preparation process for budget along with forecasting and financial analysis.
  • Manage the external audit process.

Preferred Skills :

  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organization, and time management skills
  • High performance orientation, ability to work well under pressure
  • Bilingual, ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, Mandarin or Cantonese
  • leadership experience
  • Qualifications :

  • 5+ accounting experiences (public accounting preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field
  • Knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS
  • CPA or on the required path to achieving CPA
  • Customer focused with excellent verbal and written skills
