Maintenance Support Specialist

Acme Manufacturing has an opportunity available for a Maintenance Support Specialist!

This position has a starting hourly range of $28.00 - $30.00 and is eligible for our full benefits package, including health, dental, life, 401k, and on-demand payment options to access your pay when you need it. The work week for this position Full-Time, (40 hours per week) 1st shift, Monday Friday, on-site at our facility near I-70 and Monaco. This position will be responsible for the procurement of replacement parts for our production equipment, management of maintenance inventory, scheduling / reporting preventive maintenance, and coordination of maintenance schedules with our maintenance team.

Daily Responsibilities Overview :

This position is responsible for tracking all Acme parts across every branch, ensuring that critical components for maintenance are always in stock and readily available. It focuses on maintaining inventory levels above minimum thresholds, anticipating consumption trends to prevent shortages, and ensuring that commonly used and standard machine replacement parts are always on hand. The role requires developing a deep understanding of all parts and their applications, enabling quick identification of commonly used items without research and the ability to source uncommon parts competitively and efficiently. With a clear focus on minimizing waste and optimizing inventory, this position is essential to ensuring the goal of "having what we will use, and none of what we won't" is consistently achieved.

Additionally, assisting in identifying major maintenance bottlenecks and helping to schedule repairs and service utilizing knowledge of parts inventory and leveraging available data to advise cohesive decisions and efficient work-planning.

Key Responsibilities :

Inventory Management

  • Track and monitor all Acme parts inventory across multiple operational branches.
  • Maintain stock levels of regularly consumed parts and standard replacement parts above minimum thresholds.
  • Proactively anticipate consumption trends and adjust inventory orders before minimum thresholds are breached.
  • Develop and implement inventory control systems to ensure accurate tracking and forecasting.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.

Daily Coordination

  • Collaborate with maintenance manager to triage maintenance projects based on historical parts data and current inventory.
  • Leverage knowledge of scheduled work to proactively acquire necessary parts.
  • Respond quickly to urgent part requests, minimizing machine downtime and operational delays.
  • Utilize general operations knowledge to minimize bottlenecks.
  • Parts Knowledge and Identification

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of all machine parts and their specific uses.
  • Identify common parts and components accurately without the need for external research.
  • Stay updated on part specifications, compatibility, and alternatives for better maintenance efficiency.
  • Procurement and Sourcing

  • Source new or uncommon parts promptly, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery.
  • Capable of serving as maintenance manager liaison by coherently communicating with outside service providers to ensure uniform understanding.
  • Compare supplier offerings to ensure optimal balance of quality, cost, and delivery time.
  • Optimization and Reporting

  • Continuously analyze inventory levels to identify surplus or obsolete stock, reducing unnecessary storage costs.
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory usage, stock levels, and procurement activities for management review.
  • Develop strategies to align inventory practices with the company's goal of "having what we will use, and none of what we won't."
  • Qualifications and Skills :

    Required :

  • Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to inventory management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective vendor relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude or background knowledge in industrial machine parts is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and interact in a physically demanding position.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and parts drawings.
  • Valid US driver's license, clean MVR record, and clean criminal history.
  • Preferred :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Ability to read and understand complex blueprints and schematics.
  • Specific proficiency in CMMS platforms.
