Position Overview
Applicant should possess extensive knowledge of public school system along with engagement and communication skills.
Applicant is required to have meaningful connections with children and their families respecting cultural diversity
Reviewing homework and curricula topics assisting children with homework projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks.
Strong written, verbal, engagement and computer skills. Creativity that extends to children and their families
Ability to motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance
Will work with children and their parents to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in their classroom and other educational settings
Teaching skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and different approaches to answering test questions
Demonstrating best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tactics
Providing students and their families positive and constructive feedback
Offering feedback on progress to student's parents and teachers where appropriate
Building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds
Assisting children and their caregivers, both in person and virtual
Diagnosing student needs through active listening techniques and questioning strategies using person-centered model, recognizing different learning styles and student preferences
Designated differentiated learning goals, staying up to date with the school curriculum
Other duties as assigned including recreational activities and field trips
Qualifications
Skills - extensive computer skills, EXCEL, Microsoft word, AWARDS, Zoom, TEAMS
Ability to work with children and their families. Ability to work with community organizations and provide referrals.
The ability to communicate and effectively work with service providers, Department Of Education, Administration For Children's Services
Knowledge of STEM
Education requirements - HS diploma required
