Set up and operate power saws (reciprocating, band or circular) to cut material to required lengths or contour in accordance with specifications.
Measure and mark materials according to cutting specifications using calipers, gauges, or tape measures.
Install saw blades prescribed for type of material, set stop gauges, saw speeds and indexing mechanisms such as may be provided for automatic posting of materials : may be required to replace and align band sawblades.
Position and secure materials on the bed of the machine using clamping arrangements or fixture devices : check pilot piece for dimension.
Inspect finished cuts for quality and accuracy; make necessary adjustments to maintain standards.
Label, tag, and prepare materials for next stage of processing or shipment.
Adhere to company safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Communicate with supervisors and quality control team regarding material issues or process improvements.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of experience operating saws or similar machinery in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measuring instruments.
Familiarity with basic math and measuring systems (imperial and metric).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work on feet for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
