Internal Auditor
The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs. We are seeking a detail-driven and analytical Internal Auditor to join our team and help strengthen our organization's financial integrity, operational efficiency, and risk management practices. In this role, you will conduct internal audits across departments, evaluate internal controls, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations that support compliance and strategic decision-making. Minimum Qualifications :
Six years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following : accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following : accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR A bachelor's degree plus a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR An advanced degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting or auditing. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION : Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

The ability to initiate, plan, execute, manage, and close out audits within established timelines. The ability to objectively question, analyze, interpret, and evaluate information relative to this hybrid agency to form a conclusion. The ability to form an opinion objectively and decisively based on relevant information applicable to state agencies and schools in accordance with established standards. The ability to recognize how actions impact the perceptions of both the employee and the organization. The ability to be consistent, honest, and a trustworthy steward of state resources.
Position-specific details :
Appointment Type : Probational or Promotional. The chosen application will be required to take a probationary appointment. Location : The Auditor-Internal position is located at the Louisiana Special School District. Work Schedule : Typically, work hours are 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Flexible work schedules may be available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position for which you are applying.
