Need is for a locum who can work 2 weekends a month with possible availability should they need week long coverage (LOA, vacation coverage, etc.)Unit : 100% Adult InpatientFacility : Southwest MichiganUnit Specific Info : In a Michigan city on the Grand River, east of Lake Michigan. On the outskirts, the park has a tropical conservatory and multiple gardens. Its art collection includes works by Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore and Ai Weiwei. Downtown, the Art Museum spotlights Michigan artists in its rotating shows. The city is known for many breweries dotted around town.Job Description : The Psychiatric Medical Unit is a comprehensive inpatient behavioral health unit treating patients with both medical and psychiatric conditions. Every patient is also under the care of the inpatient hospitalist team; the psychiatrist is NOT responsible for the admitting H&P and daily management of medical issues. Specialty consultation is available 7 days per week.The psychiatrist is tasked with completing initial psychiatric assessments for newly admitted patients (including those arriving the previous night) and daily rounding on all assigned patients (the entire unit on weekends). The psychiatrist is assisted by an APP (mid-level) who will divide rounding responsibilities. The unit is supported by a highly trained nursing staff, as well as experienced social workers and discharge coordinators. Specially trained nurses manage initial intake requests and bring appropriate candidates for admission to the psychiatrist for approval.
