Senior Project Engineer – Geotechnical

Location :  Atlanta, Georgia HQ or regional office options in AL, TX, FL

Relocation Assistance Available

Salary : $80K–$120K (Negotiable) + Bonus Potential

Overview :

An established full service engineering firm is seeking a Senior Project Engineer – Geotechnical to lead a variety of geotechnical projects. This is a high-impact role offering both technical leadership and project management responsibilities, with a clear path to upper-level management based on performance.

About the Role :

This position will manage and execute projects from planning and field investigations through reporting and construction support. The successful candidate will mentor junior staff, coordinate with clients, and play a key role in business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage and oversee geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing projects
  • Lead technical work under P.E. license authority
  • Conduct subsurface investigations, slope stability, dam / tunnel design, and forensic evaluations
  • Perform geologic, hydrogeologic, and rock stability assessments
  • Design rock anchors, soil nails, and similar systems
  • Draft proposals and technical reports; coordinate with internal teams and external agencies
  • Provide construction monitoring and field services
  • Train and supervise junior engineers and field technicians
  • Handle all aspects of project management including budgeting, invoicing, and scheduling

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • 5–10+ years of hands-on geotechnical engineering experience
  • Environmental assessment experience preferred
  • Work Environment & Flexibility :

  • If located in Atlanta, work primarily from a large HQ featuring an on-site materials testing lab (among largest in the Southeast), collaborative workspaces, and daily breakfast / lunch options
  • If outside Atlanta, options include : Working from the nearest regional office (AL, TX, FL) Establishing a new local office with support and resources to build a team Potential to transfer local partnerships or projects, with firm support to supplement new opportunities
