Orange County Animal Services is a progressive animal-welfare focused organization that enforces the Orange County Code to protect both citizens and animals. We are seeking a qualified Veterinarian to work on a call, relief basis. This position is not eligible for Orange County employee benefits. Animal Services welcomes more than 20,000 animals to our shelter each year and receives nearly 65,000 calls annually. We provide service throughout Orange County, including all municipalities. Our Field Operations group responds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to citizens' calls regarding :
Animal abuse and neglect
Loose and nuisance animals
Injured animals
Animal bites and attacks
Abandoned pets

This position performs spay / neuter surgeries and oversees all medical examinations and treatments of animals impounded by Orange County Animal Services. The work schedule for this position could be up to 6 hours a day 4 days a week.
Job Description
Representative Duties / Assignments
Performs spay / neuter surgery for dogs and cats at the Orange County Spay / Neuter Clinic.
Oversees pre and post-operative care of animals brought into Orange County Animal Services Spay / Neuter Clinic.
Examines and authorizes treatment of animal diseases and injuries in sheltered animals and decides on appropriate disposition.
Provides medical insight concerning drugs and procedures used for euthanizing and tranquilizing animals.
Provides assistance to the Department Manager and Assistant Department Manager as needed to include public education, community relations, surveys, studies or other important activities.
Lifts / carries minimum of 50 pounds, stands for long periods of time, walks through kennel section and examines, restrains and treats animals
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college or university.
Must possess a Florida Veterinary License to practice.
