Recovery Specialist

Job Purpose / Function : (the main contribution of the function to the total organization.)

Under the regular supervision of the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor, the Recovery Specialist

helps plan for and coordinate the individual's service plan designed to increase functioning and

community integration.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Provide recovery services to clients within a range of modalities including individual, group and family intervention
  • Develop a service plan with client and other team members which includes specific measurable goals and objectives using the language required by the DMHAS Recovery Model and Stages of Change
  • Help clients establish and / or maintain linkage with significant community resources (social, vocational, medical, residential, and educational).
  • Involve clients in activities to increase his / her interest and motivation to actively participate in choosing and / or preparing for valued community role
  • Assist clients to make informed choices about the community living, learning, social and / or working environments she / he has identified
  • Involve clients in determining which critical skills and supports are needed and wanted for functioning in her / his community goal environment and require an intervention
  • Teach clients to perform critical skills evaluated as functional deficits relative to functioning in her / his community goal environment
  • Involve clients in developing and implementing a series of actions resulting in the competent use of needed and wanted skills in her / his community goal environment
  • Meet CSP / RP Fidelity requirements for service hours, contacts, and community time
  • Identify and report to Program Director any "systems" problems requiring advocacy
  • Organize workload to meet production expectations as determined by the Clinical Supervisor of Specialty Programs
  • Learn and follow Program policies and practices; clearly interpret Program to clients, colleagues, and others in the community
  • Utilize Agency in-service training and other learning opportunities to increase job-related knowledge and skills
  • Keep accurate and timely, confidential records of client contacts, functioning levels and current status of each client on her / his caseload
  • Carry out other special assignments as designated by the Clinical Supervisor of Specialty Programs

Education and Experience Required :

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of one-year experience or equivalent experience working with individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Ability and desire to work with clients living with a severe and persistent mental illness, their family members, significant others and other community providers.
  • A valid driver's license, a clean motor vehicle record, and available, reliable transportation.
  • Expected Hours of Work : This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

    Work Environment : This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office environment is typical of any office setting / facility and ranges from low to high. May have frequent interaction with individuals in the program and community.
