Primary Purpose of Position

The North Carolina A&T State University, Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering, Greensboro, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track position in support of Civil and Architectural Engineering in the general area of Civil and Architectural Engineering to begin in Fall 2025.

Applicants must at a minimum hold a MS degree in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. The desired candidate would have experience practicing as an engineer and / or teaching in civil and architectural engineering courses.

As a Teaching Assistant Professor, this faculty member would incorporate their work experiences to lead the teaching of civil and architectural engineering related courses in various areas including surveying, land CAD (Civil-3D), soil and geotechnical engineering, construction engineering, senior design capstone projects, and others. The successful candidate is also expected to work with student organizations. Experience in and the ability to teach the use of advanced software and tools for design, construction, land development, and project management is desired.

Successful candidates will be expected to share in our mission to address the challenges of creating a sustainable global society by educating the next generation of HBCU civil and architectural engineers and leaders.

The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate courses, student advising and mentoring, engaging in accreditation procedures, and involve in department / college services. Primary Function of Organizational Unit N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade. The Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering provides academic preparation for students studying for BS degrees in Architectural Engineering, BS degrees in Civil Engineering, and MS degrees in Civil Engineering. Minimum Requirements

  • The successful candidate must have earned a MS in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field
  • A strong background in teaching and use of software tools
  • Attended an ABET accredited undergraduate institution Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
  • Experience in teaching / professional work in the area of civil and / or architectural engineering
  • Interest in inspiring learning
  • Experience working as an Engineer, Project Manager, or in Construction
  • Educational background with graduate level studies which would support being credentialed to teach courses in Civil and Architectural Engineering Required License or Certification Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies.
