Payroll and Billing Specialist (Huntsville Office and / or Las Vegas Office)

Job summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees and managing the billing and invoicing processes for customers, ensuring accurate record keeping and timely processing of transactions.

Responsibilities

Payroll Processing :

o Collecting and verifying timesheets and other payroll data.

o Calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.

o Entering employee data and payroll information into the system.

o Issuing paychecks or processing direct deposits.

o Handling payroll taxes, including withholding and Social Security.

o Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.

o Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.

o Maintaining and updating payroll records.

o Creating periodic payroll reports.

Invoicing and Billing :

o Creating and sending invoices to clients and / or customers.

o Reconciling invoices and identifying / correcting errors.

o Tracking and classifying incoming payments.

o Issuing statements outlining earnings and deductions (for employees) or payments (for clients).

o Handling billing inquiries from customers and vendors.

o Maintaining accurate records of invoices and payments.

Other Related Duties :

o Ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.

o Providing support to the accounting or human resources team as needed.

Skills and qualifications

Technical Skills :

o Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems (e.g., Unanet, Insperity).

o Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

o Data entry and record-keeping proficiency.

o Understanding of Federal Acquisition Requirements (FAR) and DCAA strongly preferred.

o Understanding of Department of Labor laws strongly preferred.

Soft Skills :

o Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

o Excellent organizational and time management skills.

o Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

o Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

o Problem-solving abilities.

o Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Education and Experience :

o Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field, preferred.

o Previous experience in payroll, billing, accounts payable, or a related accounting role
