This position requires an experienced Field Technician to assist in environmental monitoring / survey, sampling, data gathering (e.g., field logging), construction field support, engineering support such as field survey and data reduction, and acquiring and maintaining field equipment and materials. The individual must be willing to work most of the time in the field, be interested in environmental, engineering, and construction projects, and be willing to travel. The field technician will complete the 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training course within the first month of employment. This junior-mid-level project position will support field efforts within multiple states and can be expected to travel up to 90% in and out of Arizona and California. Work can occur anywhere with the larger Ahna footprint as necessary although most work is expected in AZ and CA.

The position requires the ability to respond to field sites within 6 hours of notification for emergency support.

The technician must reside in either the greater Tucson or Phoenix area, or in the San Francisco Bay Area. Based on their location, they will be assigned to one of the following offices : Tucson, Concord, or Monterey.

The pay rate for this position is $23.00-$33.00 / hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to) :

• Undergo basic field sampling and health and safety training.
• Read specifications and work plans, such as remediation work plans, to understand field procedures and protocols.
• Assist environmental scientists and geologists in conducting environmental sampling for soil, water, and gas.
• Organize sampling containers.
• Decontaminate and clean sampling equipment in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Under directions from environmental scientists or site engineers, operate field equipment to collect and process field data.
• Order or requisition materials and supplies as needed or as directed.
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations, placement of erosion control features, and best management practices.
• Record information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports; communicate with the construction manager or project manager.
• Assist project scientists or engineers in preparing field technical reports.
• Organize and coordinate delivery of construction equipment and materials / supplies.
• Monitor construction progress and assist the construction manager in updating construction schedules.
• Adhere to all field health and safety requirements.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by field management.
• Independently observe subcontractors.
• Act as SSHO for some work.
• Travel : This position will support field efforts within multiple states, and you can expect to travel up to 90% of the time.
