Director of Financial Accounts

Position Summary :

The Director of Financial Accounts is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organizations financial operations, with a primary focus on Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP). This leadership role ensures accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in all financial transactions, while providing strategic insights to support decision-making. The Director will supervise and mentor a team of two employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee daily operations of AR and AP functions, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and on time.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes in coordination with leadership.
  • Monitor cash flow, forecast revenue and expenses, and provide regular financial reports to executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment of financial practices with organizational goals.
  • Review and approve all vendor payments, payroll transactions, and customer invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement technology solutions where appropriate.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate the performance of two finance team members, providing guidance and professional development.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting / finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of AR, AP, and general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise required).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire a small team.
