Process Operator

As a Process Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that customer orders are accurately filled and dispatched promptly. You will be responsible for various tasks in the warehouse, including cleaning, handling liquid chemicals, and operating a forklift. Your primary focus will be on material handling, specifically involving liquid chemicals used for water treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Take direction from the shift manager to fill orders by filling totes or drums with liquid chemicals and stage them at the dock.
  • Load trucks upon arrival and clean hoses and drums used for filling totes.
  • Maintain a tidy warehouse environment and use electronic pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts to move finished totes or palletized drums.
  • Accurately complete paperwork, including process conditions, test results, instrument readings, and shipping paperwork.
  • Engage in secondary duties, such as washing and disposing of used totes and cutting down trashed drums.
  • Contribute significantly to reducing the backlog of washing and disposing tasks due to increased order volume.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating a sit-down forklift for at least six months.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or labor-intensive environment.
  • Strong customer focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work outside as needed, especially for drum washing.
  • Willingness to work with chemicals and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Ability to take direct feedback on work performance and processes.
  • Willingness to shave beard for respirator fit if necessary.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Chemical manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience in mixing or blending chemicals is advantageous.
  • High school diploma or GED is not required.

    Work Environment

    Operators will work across three shifts : 1st shift (4am-12pm), Mid Shift (8am-4pm), and 2nd shift (12pm-8pm or later to finish truck orders). The workplace does not mandate overtime or weekend work, but team collaboration is encouraged to manage workload effectively. Safety gear such as bump caps, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and chemical suits (which add extra warmth) are required. The warehouse is temperature-controlled, but it can be warm during summer months. The main chemicals handled include phosphates, sodium hypo, caustic soda, and various coagulants.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camby, Indiana.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00 / hr.
