The Ideal Candidate
Aspira’s Senior Database Administrator is a resource that manages, maintains, and secures data in one or more data systems that enable users and applications to perform critical business operations. Responsible for owning the data storage, compute infrastructure, organization, presentation, utilization, and security for each of the database systems for the company, which span development through to production environments, and from internal only through to customer facing environments. Playing a critical role in ensuring the backbone to countless systems remains functional and available, and enabling Aspira’s systems and users to perform their given roles, incumbent spearheads position to achieve annual department goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Support
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle, Microsoft SQLServer, and PostgreSQL databases and associated systems to meet business requirements
- Perform database tuning and optimization to ensure high performance and availability
- Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data
- Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, ensuring timely resolution
- Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support database-related projects
- Develop and maintain documentation for database design, implementation, and maintenance procedures
- Conduct regular database backups and recovery operations
- Maintain complex data replication environments for High Availability, redundancy, analytics pipelines, and customer facing reporting and data delivery systems
- Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices
Cloud-Based Solutions on AWS
Architect and deploy scalable, cloud-based database solutions leveraging AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and purpose driven AWS managed database servicesUtilize AWS CloudFormation for automating infrastructure provisioning and management.Use AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for seamless data migration across different database platformsLeverage AWS CloudWatch to provide system health tracking and problem diagnosisQualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other related discipline. A combination of related experienced and education will be considered8+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS RDS for Oracle, AWS EC2Proven experience with Microsoft Always On Availability Groups and Transactional Replication technologiesExperience with database security and data protection measuresProficiency in SQL, PL / SQL, and Python for database management and analytics.Advanced knowledge of database security, performance tuning, and optimization.Hands-on experience with AWS services like EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and DMS.
