We are currently searching for a highly motivated Roadway Engineer to join our East Gulf Region in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL.
What you’ll be doing :
- Engineering design including geometric design of highways and streets, drainage design (hydrology and hydraulics)
- Prepare construction plans and project displays
- Assist in roadway plan set design & production including roadway alignments, cross-sections, drainage, maintenance of traffic and erosion and sedimentation control
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, reports, and technical memos
- Prepare memorandums summarize analysis work
What you need to have :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering1 – 5 years of experienceEI Certification or PE License (if eligible)Knowledge of fundamental transportation standardsFamiliarity with state and FHWA design standards, guidelines, and policiesProficient in the use of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerpointExperience with computer programs such as MicroStation, ArcGIS, InRoads, various CAD, and OpenRoads DesignerSelf-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environmentAble to maintain project schedules, which may require occasional extended hours and overnight travelEffective verbal and written communication skillsGeneral interpersonal skills including active listening, teamwork, responsibility, dependability, leadership, motivation, flexibility, and patienceALDOT or local government design experience preferredAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
