Design Lead

The Design Lead position will initially be a part-time role with the potential to transition to full-time as performance is assessed. The primary responsibility is to provide data center design services, requiring a comprehensive understanding of data center technology infrastructure design practices and Hyper-Scaler Standards. The role involves liaising with clients, developers, installation contractors, and design team members to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

ICT Data Infrastructure design implementation for Data Center Technology projects, including Outside / Inside Fiber Plant, Data Cabling Pathways, Conveyance, Grounding, Wi-Fi, and related Data Systems.

Design and manage Hyper-Scaler Single Tenant, Co-Location, and Enterprise Data Centers ranging from 1MW to 108MW, including multi-provider campuses.

Create Construction Documents, including drawings and specifications.

Conduct design reviews using Revit, Autodesk Construction, BuildingConnected, and Bluebeam Sessions.

Perform on-site inspections and develop field reports, with national travel to project sites within the continental US.

Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.

Assist with business development and client outreach events.

Essential Skills

5-10 years of BIM design experience.

Experience managing small teams (3-5) and clients.

Familiarity with physical security systems and Information and Communication Technology.

Proficiency in Revit and designing complex security systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Certifications (Not required) : RCDD, OSP, PMP, PSP, RTPM, CTS.

Open to travel (not required initially for a part-time position).

Work Environment

This role offers the flexibility to work fully remotely. The company is a leader in technology engineering within a rapidly growing market, focusing on technology-oriented designs within complex buildings, including audio / visual, security systems, and IT infrastructure. The current and upcoming workload consists of data-center projects across multiple sites in the US. The office is located in Woodridge, IL, with approximately 40 employees.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodridge, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $72.11 / hr.
