This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by : helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church.
Performs working level duties in receiving, stores, and / or shipping functions. Stocks material / commodities in a neat, orderly way; receives, inspects, and counts incoming material / commodities; rejects damaged items, records shortages, reviews, and interprets accompanying documentation; maintains records of stock received / shipped; and / or moves materials / commodities between locations. Operates material handling, forklift, and packaging equipment.
Requires a High school diploma with intermediate computer skills and basic math skills, and at least 2 years previous warehousing, material handling, or related work experience. Preference will be given to those who have internal Church warehousing experience.
Experience in operating motorized material handling equipment including reach-lifts. Must be able to read and understand English. Must be able to physically lift / move / push / pull items (up to 50 lbs. alone or occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. with two people), climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to store / retrieve items, and operate a pallet jack containing up to 2500 lbs. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, training, and leadership skills. Preference will be given to those already familiar with using a warehouse management system including the use of handheld scanners.
