Opportunity exists for involvement in a wide range of clinical and academic activities, including research, teaching, and mentoring medical students and residents. The physician hired will receive a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona consistent with rank and credentials.

Minimum Requirements :

• Current Board Certification or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• Experience and / or enthusiasm for working and teaching in an Academic Medicine setting
• Potential for leadership component / responsibilities
• Current Arizona licensure or submission for state licensure submitted at time of application

Banner - University Medicine Behavioral Health Clinic  provides superior psychiatric and behavioral healthcare for residents of Arizona and surrounding states. Our department of psychiatry strives to achieve four goals : 1) Provide the best care possible to our patients and their families today; 2) Prepare the next generation of resident physicians to provide better care in the future; 3) Produce the advancements in knowledge required to improve our ability to diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent mental illness, and 4) Engage with diverse stakeholders to assure we are meeting the needs of the communities we treat as we pursue social justice and health equity. Our hospital and clinics combine psychiatric and behavioral health services in one location for both inpatients and outpatients and includes both an emergency department dedicated to handling acute mentally ill patients and the Center for Interventional Psychiatry and Neurotherapeutics which offers ECT, rTMS, esketamine, and IV ketamine. Our behavioral health clinics provide comprehensive outpatient mental health services for adults and children, including consultations, evaluations, and treatments by psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and supervised trainees.

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine  seeks applicants to join the faculty in the role of Clinical Educator (MD or DO). This faculty appointment at the assistant or associate rank (in the educator scholar track) is for early to mid-career psychiatric physicians who are committed to launching a career in medical education. In addition to providing clinical care, 20% effort will be protected for up to three years to acquire and refine the skills necessary to become a leader in psychiatric education. Applications from those with interest in undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, and cross-disciplinary and continuing medical education are all encouraged.

Applicants should be able to articulate a vision for their professional development and career as a clinician educator. The successful applicant will work closely with the department chair, vice chair for education, and colleagues in relevant educational units at the College of Medicine, Banner University Medical Center, and the University of Arizona, to accomplish mutually agreed upon, measurable milestones. The clinician educator faculty will be encouraged to apply for education leadership programs from AAMC, ADMSEP, or another related professional organization (participation fees paid for by the department) and pursue their own mentored program of educational programmatic development and / or educational scholarship. Clinical educator faculty will have a dedicated faculty mentor.
