Laboratory Director

The director of Laboratory is overall responsible for the management of the Laboratory department. Ensures that chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests are performed accurately and efficiently, and that the results are reported in a timely manner. Keeps informed of developments in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Supervises Laboratory personnel. Responsible for the daily operation and supervision of the personnel working in the Clinical Laboratory and Transfusion service Departments. Assists in providing quality services in a cost-efficient manner by recommending and allocating appropriate staffing, Developing and implementing new programs, policies, procedures, protocols, and CAP / Joint commission / CMS compliance, as necessary. Serves to coordinate and direct activities related with management of fiscal, operational, and technical matters. Suggests changes and modifications to services that will improve margins. Provides professional, competent, safe, appropriate patient care from patients age newborn and older; management of all documentation related to testing and resulting, management of communication between the Laboratory and ancillary and off campus sites, both verbal and hardcopy documents. Maintains a professional, cooperative interaction with all hospital departments, medical staff, and the public in keeping with the mission and philosophy of Manatee Memorial Hospital Health System. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

The tradition of caring that culminated in the establishment of Corona Regional Medical Center began in 1965, with the founding of Corona Community Hospital. Since that time the hospital has changed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community. Corona Community Hospital merged with Circle City Medical Center in 1992 and the resulting entity became Corona Regional Medical Center. The merged hospitals are now a 238-bed community hospital network comprised of a 160-bed acute care hospital and a 78-bed rehabilitation campus. It is certified by The Joint Commission, employs more than 1,250 trained healthcare workers and has a medical staff of approximately 347 physicians representing more than 40 specialties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE :

 Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field from an accredited College or University required.

 Master's degree in related field from an accredited College or University preferred.

 Five (5) to Seven (7) years of clinical experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required.

 Minimum three (3) years leadership experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or in related field required, acute care experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES :

 Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License in the State of California
