Geospatial Navigation Technical Manager

Clearance Requirement : Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Travel Requirements : Limited, but must be able and willing to support division travel to trade shows and customer sites Location : Norfolk, VA SUMMARY : WR has an opportunity for a team-centric, motivated Geospatial Navigation Technical Manager to lead a navigation development team focused on product-driven solutions that improve the customer experience. This individual will drive efficiency and productivity by coordinating across multi-functional teams. Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following : Serve as a champion for the development of new products and processes Manage product lifecycle and performance, including cost / quality, maintenance, end-of-life planning, and model line enhancements Lead the strategic and operational direction of the product portfolio, including roadmaps and daily execution Monitor and recommend improvements in operational efficiencies, quality, service / warranty costs, margins, and forecasting Organize and manage cross-functional initiatives to support and maintain existing products Assist in the development of promotional strategies, sales programs, and product training Support the company’s participation in trade shows and other special events Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience : Bachelor of Science in Computer / Software Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related scientific discipline Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, depending on domain expertise Five (5)+ years of experience as a multi-product technical team lead Three (3)+ years of navigation or GIS-related development experience Working knowledge of electronic charting navigation and / or GIS domains Demonstrated business leadership and team management abilities Proven ability to lead teams directly and indirectly through collaboration and influence Strong analytical skills to identify industry trends, market opportunities, and product strategies Fundamental understanding of operational processes, financial planning, pricing, margins, costs, inventories, and financial statements Technical knowledge of electro-mechanical products and ability to communicate their value to diverse audiences Proven ability to drive business growth through market insight and execution of strategic plans and initiatives Preferred Qualifications : Working knowledge and experience in the following areas : Maritime navigation S-100 hydrographic specifications The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following : Employment history; Education and / or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate’s suitability for the position.
