OVERVIEW :

Kent Denver School is seeking a full-time Middle and Upper School Impact Studio Associate to lead hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) facilitations in our middle and upper school makerspaces.

In this role, you'll guide students in design thinking, engineering, and creative fabrication by helping them transform ideas into tangible solutions. This person will lead and co-develop interdisciplinary experiences with the team and faculty members, emphasizing engineering design, digital fabrication, and creative problem-solving. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students explore the intersection of art, technology, and applied science while fostering curiosity, teamwork, and ethical innovation.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

Support our faculty in facilitating engaging, inquiry-driven STEAM learning experiences for middle and upper school students.

Integrate tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing and textile equipment, robotics kits, and hand tools into meaningful design and fabrication projects.

Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to develop cross-curricular projects and integrate design thinking throughout the curriculum.

Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, iteration, and reflection, encouraging students to approach challenges with curiosity and resilience.

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organized makerspace, ensuring proper care and accessibility of all equipment and materials, including performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment

Supervise students during open studio hours, independent project blocks, and collaborative work sessions, ensuring safe and appropriate tool use.

Support learners of diverse skill levels and backgrounds through differentiated instruction and mentorship.

Model curiosity, empathy, and intellectual integrity, inspiring students to think deeply, act ethically, and collaborate meaningfully.

Participate actively in the Kent Denver community, including PD, clubs, and school-wide initiatives.

Teaching a seminar or elective related to STEAM education, if required

QUALIFICATIONS : Experience

Prior experience working with middle and high school learners is strongly preferred

Experience facilitating hands-on, inquiry-driven learning in a makerspace, fabrication lab, or STEAM-focused environment, particularly one equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing and textile tools, robotics kits, and other digital fabrication resources like those found in Kent Denver's Impact Studio.

Ability to demonstrate knowledge and comfort with all Impact Studio tools and equipment, with a willingness to learn any tools or systems that are new or unfamiliar.

Familiarity with common makerspace software (e.g., Bamboo Studio, Tinkercad, Fusion 360, Adobe Creative Suite) or willingness to learn.

Competencies

Strong ability to guide students through design thinking, creative problem-solving, and iterative project development that emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and ethical reflection.

Strong ability to follow directions, prepare appropriate materials, and support all teachers with facilitation needs in a timely, organized, and accurate manner.

A demonstrated capacity to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a vibrant school community.

Salary range :

$46,000 - $55,000 per annum, based on an hourly rate of between $22.00 - $26.40
