NC MedAssist is North Carolinas only nonprofit, statewide free pharmacy. Our programs assist our neighbors with medication access needs by providing prescription and over-the-counter medication at no cost. Our mission is to dispense opportunities through improved health.

Job Overview

The OTC Program Associate through NC MedAssists Transitional Employment Program is a temporary (180 day) role in our dynamic, busy and supportive free Over the Counter (OTC) Medicine Program. This role focuses on helping customers and volunteers, keeping inventory organized, fulfilling orders and ensuring the free OTC store runs smoothly. The OTC Program Associate reports directly to the OTC Program director and works with the HR Director to build skills and prepare for future job opportunities.

Goal : To gain valuable work experience, develop professional skills and prepare for long-term employment after completing the program.

Position Responsibilities :

The responsibilities of the OTC Program Associate include but are not limited to :

  • Assists customers, volunteers and other team members in a warehouse and retail setting
  • Organize, count and restock shelves to keep the store neat and well-stocked.
  • Receive and check deliveries of OTC Products.
  • Keep the store and warehouse clean and safe
  • Help customers select the right OTC products. Ask a manager or pharmacist if questions arise.
  • Open the store, handle check-out, and follow daily procedures.
  • Lift, transfer, stack and load boxes weighing up to 40lbs.
  • Work closely with other departments to pack and fulfill orders for mobile events, clinics and disaster relief.
  • Accurately track inventory using computer systems.
  • Take on any other tasks as needed to support the team.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check review.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
  • Friendly, motivated and passionate about assisting others.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced warehouse and retail environment.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Word, Excel and other application is preferred.
  • Willing to learn and grow in a fast-paced setting.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willing to commit to 30-40 hour work weeks.
  • COMPENSATION

    Hourly rate of $15.45 an hour, paid on a bi-weekly pay schedule

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (with or without reasonable accommodations)

  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • Comfortable with changes in the environment with the ability to work standing in a warehouse environment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 20lb-40lbs frequently
