Ardurra is seeking a Construction Observation Inspector to join our staff in Arizona!
- Ability / willingness to travel to various projects in Arizona
This position is open to both part-time and full-time opportunities.
Primary Function
In this role, the Construction Inspector will observe and inspect various construction sites.
Primary Duties
Construction observation and inspection duties include, but are not limited to :
Visit construction sites to monitor activitiesObserving compliance to all safety protocolsArranging and reviewing material testing resultsDetermining and documenting quantity of work completed and materials usedAssist in preparing pay estimates and change orders for construction contractsTrack project budgets and contract amendmentsParticipate in project meetings to plan and review project progressInvestigating complaintsConfer with contractors and the general public to resolve problems with inspectionsInterpret surveying documents; reading plans, maps or graphic instructionsCommunicate projects status and issues to management in a timely mannerEnsures compliance with jurisdiction specifications and detailsArizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge ConstructionMaricopa Association of Governments (MAG) standard specifications and details for public works construction, including, but not limited to : earthwork; sanitary sewers and water lines; irrigation pipes; storm drains; streetlights; electric, telephone, and dry utility trenches; paving and concrete flatwork; and bridges and structures, etcMay coordinate-survey requests and stakingMonitor trenching for alignment and grade, shoring, and manhole locations and compactionCheck pipes, valves, and fire hydrants for proper location, type, and operationsMonitor conflicts with other utilitiesRequired to use appropriate safety equipment and follow approved safety procedures in performing work assignments.Essential Functions :
Inspect the full range of public works construction projects, which includes streets, alleys, water and sewer lines, irrigation facilities, storm drains, and permit construction in the public right-of-way, for compliance with standard details, specifications, and approved plansInspects materials, grades, and other work for compliance with standard and special specifications, details, plans, and standard construction practicesComplete daily and monthly progress reports and assists in preparing monthly and final pay estimatesCompute monthly estimates of work completed and recommends payment for contractorsMonitor the Quality Assurance Plan and calls for testing as requiredReview progress of projects being inspected for the city by others and assists them in coordinating workTrain other construction inspectors as neededInspect traffic control barricade set-ups including street, sidewalk or alley restrictions in accordance with City of Phoenix Traffic Barricade Manual including any ADA requirementsMay coordinate with utilities, other departments, contractors, and sub-contractorsReview quantities based on plans and specifications prior to constructionWork with survey personnel in preparing record drawingsObserve and ensures that materials are in accordance with and used in accordance with standard details specifications, approved plans and normal construction practicesRecords all field changes for "as-built" drawings on field plan set or assures the contractor and / or architect / engineer are recording changesHandle property owners complaints and inquiries as to construction activitiesCall for survey support as required by construction progressMaintain regular and reliable attendanceInspect trench backfill, sub-grade and aggregate base course for grade, compaction, moisture, and preparation for pavingAttend and participates in preconstruction meetings with department staff, engineers, contractors, developers and other organizationsAbility to use Microsoft Office Programs, Word, Excel, OutlookRepresents Ardurra in the construction inspection role in a manner that demonstrates respect for others, integrity, and a high degree of professionalismPerform related duties as assignedEducation and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalency4+ years’ experience in public works construction inspection work or related fieldValid Arizona Driver’s License with acceptable driving recordAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the workMust be able to obtain the America Concrete Inspection (ACI) Field Testing and Arizona Technical Testing Institute (ATTI) Field Technician Certifications within 6 months of employment.Behavioral Skills Required :
