Mainframe Developer

Key responsibilities :

Application development : Design code and test new applications for mainframe systems.

Maintenance and upgrades : Update maintain and modify existing applications to ensure they continue to meet business requirements.

Troubleshooting and debugging : Analyze and fix bugs and issues within mainframe software to ensure optimal performance.

Collaboration : Work with other developers IT teams and business analysts to implement and support projects.

Documentation : Create and maintain technical documentation and user manuals.

System analysis : Evaluate and recommend changes to the mainframe system sometimes involving cost-effective project proposals.

Key skills and languages

Programming languages : COBOL & JCL

Databases : DB2 & VSAM

Technical skills : Understanding of batch processing online transaction processing OLTP and capacity management is crucial.

Soft skills : Strong communication attention to detail data analysis and problem-solving skills are essential.
