Salary : $130,000.00–$170,000.00 (approx.)

Job Summary

Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Senior Physician Assistant provides high quality, efficient, team based patient focused care. Responsibilities include managing patients in the office, hospital, ED, and / or perioperative setting, First Assist in the OR, managing on call duties, and may require evening or weekend hours. The role may also mentor junior Physician Assistants.

Essential Responsibilities

• Practice as part of a team under supervising physician
• Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical examinations
• Administer or order diagnostic tests (imaging, ECG, labs) and interpret results
• Perform therapeutic procedures (injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, infection management)
• Perform other department‑specific diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
• Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, assist with continuity of care
• Instruct and counsel patients on treatment compliance, health maintenance, etc.
• Facilitate admissions, transfers, discharges as applicable
• First assist or perform surgeries or procedures as applicable
• Round on inpatients, perform admission evaluations, document findings, report deviations
• Provide pre‑operative / pre‑procedure education to patients and families
• Answer questions regarding surgery, recovery, risk factors; provide blood transfusion info as applicable
• Review patient charts noting allergies, history, abnormal findings
• Assist in performing surgical procedures and other procedures consistent with standards of care
• May serve as First Assist during surgical procedures, start IVs, perform suturing
• Perform post‑operative procedures including entering orders, reviewing vitals, labs, assisting patient recovery
• Facilitate patient discharge, dictate discharge / transfer summaries
• Collaborate with supervising physician, manager and department members on performance improvement activities
• Serve as mentor to less experienced Physician Assistants
