Job Summary

GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This position will report to the Department / Division Chair and is responsible for providing pediatric nursing theory, skills lab, clinical, and simulation-based instruction to a diverse student population.

The position requires communication and collaboration with students, faculty, administrators, and other campus departments whose mission is focused on student success. This position also requires theoretical and clinical knowledge of pediatric nursing as this person also provides clinical laboratory, and simulation instruction to nursing students from diverse backgrounds.

The primary teaching focus will be pediatric content in the Maricopa Nursing RN program. This position may also teach in the nurse assistant, practical nurse, nursing continuing education or RN to BSN programs.

To teach the theoretical component of the Maricopa Nursing RN program a master’s degree is required.

This role will :

Essential Functions

Supervises and facilitates student learning for a diverse population of students in simulation, clinical, and

classroom settings.

prepares and grades exams; and students' academic achievement

Maintains office hours; serves on and participates in department, college and district wide committees and

activities.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree plus 3 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a

BSN and a graduate degree and 2 years experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, or a graduate degree in

nursing and 2 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care

2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of

employment.

3. Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and drug testing.

4. Must complete EDU 250 – Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent within two years of date of hire.

Desired Qualifications

A. A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.

B. Three or more years as a registered nurse providing direct patient care in pediatrics.

C. One or more years of classroom teaching experience working with a diverse population of students in a nursing program.

D. One or more years of clinical / lab teaching experience working with a diverse population of students in a nursing program.

E. One or more years of experience using simulation technology ( Laerdal, Gaumard, and CAE manikins; video capturing technology; and running scenarios).
