Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY : Safely transport children to the Family School program by picking them up from their foster homes and dropping them off to Family School in the morning and then returning them to their foster homes at the conclusion of the day's program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Drive a van to pick up and deliver children to the Family School program and deliver them home after the program dayEnsure children are properly secured in their car seats or in their seat with a seatbelt by physically checking that the buckles are secureRemain attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensuring passenger safetyUse Global Positioning System (GPS) for accurate directions and to avoid potential hazard areasFollow the planned route and schedule for departure times, stops, and delivery of Family School childrenComplete a daily maintenance record at the beginning and end of each shiftConduct daily inspection of vehicle prior to operation inclusive of tires, brakes, turn signals, windows, windshield wipers, windshield fluid, and oil, etc.Monitor and log fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbersReport delays, accidents and emergenciesRespond to emergency and non-emergency situationsComplete incident reports, as required per Elwyn's policy, by the end of each shiftEnsure emission and annual vehicle inspections are completed within the proper timeframesEnsure required and recommended repairs are completed with appropriate authorization of both program director and Automotive Resources International (ARI) fleet servicesEnsure current vehicle registration and insurance cards are in the vehicle's glove compartment at all timesComplete special assignments which may require travel to other counties for the delivery and or pick up of supplies / itemsAssist with the loading and unloading of the van when requiredComplete paperwork as requiredPerform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocolsMaintain a clean vehiclePerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIREMENTS :
High school graduate or equivalent preferredMust have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving recordDemonstrated proficiency in managing route efficiency and ability to safely operate company vehicles, specifically a passenger vanAbility to utilize Global Positioning System (GPS) for accurate directions and to avoid potential hazard areasAbility to follow the planned route and schedule for departure times, stops and delivery of Family School childrenDemonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, prioritiesDemonstrated strong attention to detailDemonstrated strong time management and organizational skillsDemonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to solve problems and make decisions with input from supervisorDemonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actionsMust be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocolsMust possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and OutlookExperience working with children and families preferredPrevious experience as a school bus or van driver preferred
