Job Description & Requirements Specialty : CVOR Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 15 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Job Summary : The CVOR Registered Nurse is responsible for providing perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures. The RN CVOR works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and surgical technologists to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient outcomes throughout all phases of cardiovascular surgery. Key Responsibilities : Prepare the operating room and surgical equipment for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care before, during, and after surgery. Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure surgical instruments and supplies are available and functioning properly. Collaborate with surgical team members to provide safe, effective patient care. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and respond to intraoperative complications. Document all nursing care and surgical events accurately in the patient’s record. Provide support and education to patients and families regarding the surgical process and postoperative care. Adhere to hospital policies, infection control protocols, and safety regulations. Participate in continuous quality improvement and professional development activities. Qualifications : Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred). Licensure : Current, active RN license (state-specific). Certifications : BLS (Basic Life Support) – required ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required or within 6 months of hire CNOR certification – preferred Experience : Minimum 1–2 years of operating room experience, preferably in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery.
