Western Massachusetts Hospital (WMH) under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), located in Westfield MA is currently hiring for the position ofEnvironmental Service Spec I / Hospital Cleaner. WMH is a 100-bed long term medical and specialty care hospital owned and operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH).

Please Note : The position is 1stshift, 6 : 30am - 3 : 00pm.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive) :

• Performs day-to-day housekeeping services to the main hospital and other buildings on campus to ensure a clean, attractive facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and washes floors, using appropriate equipment and supplies to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hospital.
• Dusts, polishes and washes interior surfaces such as windows furniture, walls, ceilings, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain building in a clean and orderly condition.
• Prepares beds after washing using appropriate linen supplies and removes / hangs window draperies and bedside curtains as needed.
• Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, mop closets, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of such areas.
• Distributes clean linen to patient care and ancillary departments.
• Empties and relines trash receptacles, paying particular attention to the safe and proper handling of hazardous waste.
• Collects soiled linen to aid in the operation of the laundry function.
• Performs lifting and moving activities such as stocking oxygen tanks and furniture
• Arranges and prepares conference rooms, patient care units and other designated areas as needed.
