Overview

Business Data Analyst - Compensation Retail Sales

Location : Remote or Hybrid if local (two days a week if you reside within 30 miles of Tustin, CA or a local branch)

Starting Salary : $100k to $150k DOE

Position Summary

Are you passionate about data analytics and driving insights, analyzing sales performance and ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent compensation calculations? We are seeking an analyst with a strong data engineering background to meet the needs of flexible comp structure for a large sales team. This role will be responsible for designing, calculating, validating, and reporting on compensation plans that drive performance and align with business goals. You will partner closely with Sales, Finance, and Operations leadership to ensure compensation processes run smoothly and effectively. In addition, this role will be a key participant in driving lead data modeling helping DW team in building clean scalable data models.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the calculation, validation, and processing of monthly / quarterly retail sales compensation across multiple plan types and incentive structures.
  • Build, maintain, and automate compensation reporting and dashboards (Power BI, Excel, SQL, or equivalent).
  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership, HR, and Finance to ensure alignment between compensation plans and company strategy.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies and proactively resolve compensation issues with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze sales performance metrics and compensation outcomes to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations in all compensation processes.
  • Present compensation reports and analysis clearly to stakeholders, including executives and sales leadership.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses related to incentive design, plan modeling, and sales performance trends.
  • Regular analytical support for the line of business in need

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in compensation analysis, sales incentive management, or financial / sales analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and validation.
  • Proficiency in Power BI (or equivalent visualization tools) for building and automating compensation dashboards.
  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, modeling).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high volumes of data accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in retail or sales incentive compensation is highly preferred.
  • Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with sales performance management Compensafe
  • Knowledge of retail sales processes and incentive structures.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake.
