Job Skills / Requirements

School Security Officer

We are seeking dedicated and professional Security Officers to help create a safe and welcoming environment in a school setting. This role is ideal for individuals who would enjoy working in a school setting with children or young adults while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities :

• Monitor and supervise assigned areas to maintain security and order.
• Conduct regular patrols of the school building, corridors, stairwells, and grounds.
• Secure exterior doors and monitor access to the facility.
• Use a tour-of-duty system to document inspections of key areas.
• Provide assistance to the public, including giving directions and supporting visitors in compliance with school procedures.
• Respond promptly and professionally to staff concerns and emergencies.
• Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized activities and promote safety.
• Escort students as needed and assist school staff in maintaining order.
• Report security breaches, incidents, or suspicious activity immediately to the Principal and Supervisor.
• Monitor Cameras.
• Security Officers may be required to use metal detectors or other weapons detection systems for visitor and student screening.
• Security Officers may be required to work access points within the school which would require following procedures for visitor management.
• Support other duties as assigned by school administration or SMSSI management.

GED or H.S. Equivalent

Certification Requirements (All)

IL PERC Card

20-hour IL security training certificate
