Director, Security Job Description
The Director, Security ensures the physical safety of employees, patients, visitors, and students. The position also manages the security program for all of the off-sites. The Director, Security will :
- Provide strategic leadership for security operations for the SRAlab.
- Establish security procedures and guidelines to provide safety and security on campus.
- Review and assess incident reports and documentation of physical security checks, verifying accuracy and thoroughness in reporting process.
- Gather data and prepare statistical information for departmental use and administrative review.
- Coordinate training for Security personnel, including new employee orientation and other safety / security related training as needed.
- Interview and select Security personnel; evaluates and schedules appropriate staffing for daily operation and special events.
- Administer performance appraisals, implement employee improvement plans, resolve employee infractions of rules and regulations.
- Coordinate response to activities of unusual occurrences such as utility failure, fires, or other emergencies.
- Act as liaison between the SRAlab and local emergency service organizations.
- Provide oversight and management for the Parking Management program, Access Control Systems, Patient Elopement, and Key Control systems.
- Ensure the security program complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and assist in the management of the overall Environment of Care program.
- Evaluate and prepares statistical information and makes recommendations for improvements and system management.
- Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Reporting Relationships :
Reports to the Support Services LeaderKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice or related field, Master's Degree strongly preferredMinimum 7 years security experience, with a minimum 5 years in healthcare and 2 years of supervisory experience.Ability to communicate effectively with the SRAlab community, state and local law enforcement agencies and subordinatesMust have the ability to manage emergency and support personnel under highly stressful emergency conditions.Able to develop and implement strategic policies.Will regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning safetyAbility to influence and gain acceptance of others.Able to exercise supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing.Working Conditions :
Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.Pay Range : $95,508.19 annually - $158,537.60 annually
