Air Traffic Control Specialist (Staff)

Aviation Career Field Position

Manages all air traffic and airspace assets and provides technical expertise.

Provides direction, evaluation, coordination, and advice on Air Traffic and Airspace operations, management and training.

Develops and recommends policy and plans to support the use of navigable airspace.

Develops plans to meet new airspace mission requirements, for airspace improvements, modifications or expansion.

• One year trial / probationary period may be required.
• You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
• This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Control Program and requires to sign a DA 5019 and must pass urinalysis testing prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• This position requires the incumbent to report to work or remain as scheduled to support mission operations during the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations.
• This position requires to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes experience using regulations on the movement of air traffic and airfield space to assess navigational aids; develop air traffic procedures for operation and management of airspace; coordinate the development of air regulations and procedures to establish uniformity in control, flight assistance, and communication procedures; and provide guidance on air traffic and airspace operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade / level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
