The Role :

The Financial and Business Solutions Advisor guides our agency towards financial success and business operation excellence. This strategic role is responsible for leading our financial forecasting, modeling, and analytical efforts, serving as a key resource to the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, and SVP for Finance and Administration.

The Financial and Business Solutions Advisor will collaborate with the finance team to analyze and lead the transformation and modernization of financial modeling, reporting, business processes, and systems. By gaining exposure to the operations of Chapel Haven’s programs, the advisor will work cross-functionally with other departments to drive data-informed decision-making and operational improvements.

As a versatile and strategic thinker, the Financial and Business Solutions Advisor brings together financial expertise with knowledge of business processes and systems. This unique combination allows the advisor to develop and implement innovative solutions that support the agency's long-term financial sustainability and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Financial Modeling :

Develop and maintain robust financial models to project future performance, assess the impact of programmatic changes, evaluate capital projects, and support rate-setting strategies.

  • Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting :
  • Prepare and present clear, accurate, and timely financial reports—including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, budget-to-actuals comparisons, and forecasts—for senior leadership and key stakeholders. Create flexible, strategic annual budgets and translate complex financial data into concise, actionable presentations for the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, President, SVPs, lenders, and donors.

  • Financial Systems and Process Improvement :
  • Lead cross-departmental collaboration with Admissions, Development, Finance, HR, Chapel Haven Programs, Donors, and Grantors to gather data, understand business needs, and provide financial insights. Identify and implement opportunities to enhance financial systems and streamline processes.

  • Leadership and Culture :
  • Mentor and support finance staff, fostering a culture of service, accountability, and continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with key departments including Programs, Facilities, Development, Admissions, and IT to ensure alignment and financial transparency across the organization.

    Minimum Education Requirements :

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration is required , along with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience .
  • A Master’s degree (MBA with a concentration in Finance, or MS in Finance) is preferred and may substitute for experience with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience .
  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Strategic Thinking & Execution :
  • A big-picture thinker who can also dive into day-to-day financial details. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Clear and Confident Communication :
  • Ability to translate complex financial concepts into accessible language for non-financial audiences, including staff, families, donors, and regulators. Build trust through transparency and clarity.

  • Change Management & Project Leadership :
  • Proven experience leading or supporting change initiatives. Project management knowledge (Agile or PMBOK methodologies preferred) to drive efficiency and modernization.

  • Collaboration and Teamwork :
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset. Able to work cross-functionally with a variety of departments and stakeholders.

  • Technical and Software Proficiency :
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including macros, Power Query, and pivot tables). Experience with financial modeling and analysis tools. Familiarity with AccuFund or other accounting software is a plus.

  • KPI Dashboard Management :
  • Ability to design, update, and maintain key performance indicator dashboards, tracking metrics such as program margins, utilization, liquidity, and staffing ratios.

  • Financial and Accounting Knowledge :
  • Solid understanding of accounting procedures and principles, including payable / receivable, general ledger, and month-end / year-end close processes. Experience with non-profit accounting is strongly preferred.
