Paramedic / RN Exception -Part Time

The City of Indianola (pop. 16,069) is a growing community with a historic downtown, located approximately 15 minutes south of Des Moines. It is a safe community with Midwestern values, friendly people and excellent schools. Indianola, which is home to Simpson College, the world-renowned Des Moines Metro Opera and the National Balloon Museum and U.S. Ballooning Hall of Fame, is known for its excellent access to outdoor activities, a nice trail system, five major parks and two golf courses. The community welcomes thousands of visitors annually who come to Indianola to enjoy major events such as the National Balloon Classic, the Warren County Fair and other events.

The Indianola Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-Time Paramedics.

This position is responsible for a number of tasks, including, but not limited to :

• Responds to the scene of Fire and EMS related emergencies to save lives, property, and preserving the environment.
• Performs fire suppression and EMS duties using related equipment as required, under the direction of the Fire Department's structure (chain of command), and Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines.
• Performs appropriate, Basic and Advanced levels of pre-hospital care for sick and injured patients, per protocols at the direction of the Indianola Fire Department Medical Director.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and rescue equipment in an emergency environment while participating in the overall operations.

Starting salary is $28.25. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer drug screening, physical capacity profile, physical and background check. Position is open until filled.
