Associate Dean / Senior Associate Dean Of Student Affairs And Admissions
Reporting to the School of Medicine Dean, the Associate Dean / Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Admissions supervises and directs the staff and budget of the programs under the Offices of Student Affairs and Admissions, and is responsible for implementing policies and programming to support medical student academic progress from admissions to graduation. This includes student academic support, student advising, the learning environment, career development, and student wellness initiatives.
Core Duties (Associate Dean / Senior Associate Dean) :
Supervision Received :
Reports to the School of Medicine Dean or his / her designee, and the corresponding department chair in faculty role; and works closely with the Associate Dean for Educational Affairs.
Supervision Given :
Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education :
Associate Dean : Terminal degree in a related field from an accredited University.
Senior Associate Dean : MD, DO, PhD or EdD in a related field or equivalent from an accredited University.

Licenses / Certifications :
None.
Required Experience :
Associate Dean / Senior Associate Dean : Six (6) years of related increasingly responsible professional experience.
Preferred Experience :
Senior Associate Dean : Experience in undergraduate medical education with at least five years in an education administration role.
Equipment :
Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions :
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
