Job Overview :
The Lactation Consultant RN provides lactation counseling, education and support to new mothers for both inpatients and outpatients; contacts breastfeeding mothers 24-72 hours after discharge; serves as a resource for staff nurses, physicians and the community.
Required : Certifications / Licenses / Education
The Lactation Consultant must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; maintain a current Indiana RN license; maintain BLS certification; IBCLC or CLC is preferred. No experience is required but 1-2 years of experience in practice area is preferred.

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care; demonstrates the knowledge, critical thinking and judgment of and integrates the use of evidence-based outcomes for nursing practice; supervises care delivered; coordinates plan ofcare; provides education for patients, families and staff; and collaborates with other disciplines.

The RN will adhere to the American Nurses Association Bill of Rights by establishing and maintaining workplace expectations and environments which support sound professional nursing practice.
