Credit Analyst- Commercial Lending

Birmingham, AL area. On site

Position Overview

Great opportunity for an experienced credit analyst / underwriter within commercial lending. Well-established organization that invests in the community and cares for its team members. The role will execute detailed evaluation, analysis, underwriting, and documentation of commercial loan applications, primarily SBA 504 loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed credit analysis and underwriting for commercial loan applications, assessing financial statements, cash flow, and risk factors.
  • Prepare & review files for policy, regulatory, and documentation compliance, including equal credit, fair credit reporting, BSA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Review Credit Reports (personal and corporate) and analyze the account history and current payment trends.
  • Collaborate with loan officers and other team members to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Spread and analyze Business financials, including Tax Returns, Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and financial projections.
  • Perform industry and market research to support credit decisions and risk assessments.
  • Complete a financial analysis based on trend analysis, industry-specific comparisons, and overall cash flow / repayment ability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lending.
  • Proven experience in credit analysis or underwriting for commercial loans.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Small Business Administration (SBA) credit or underwriting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending regulations and compliance standards.
