In the effort to catalyze New York Citys transition to a clean resilient and equitable energy future the Office of Alternative Energy (OAE) was established pursuant to NYC Administrative Code section 28-103.33 to streamline the process for obtaining the necessary approvals to install and maintain alternative energy projects from the Department and other relevant agencies. OAE is housed in the Office of Technical Certification and Research (OTCR).
Under supervision the Assistant Plan Examiner Alternative Energy performs work of moderate difficulty and responsibility in the engineering analysis of structures and building equipment systems and the examination of plans for the construction alteration or repair of buildings and equipment systems under the jurisdiction of the Department of Buildings. Responsibilities include :

ASSISTANT ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - 20310
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work; or
2. A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college and a masters degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
A masters degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university can only be used to substitute for one year of full-time satisfactory work experience in electrical engineering. A degree in any other engineering area or in any engineering technology area is not acceptable.
