Engineer II Manufacturing

Microchip has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer II Manufacturing to join our team in Tuscaloosa, AL. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key manufacturing engineering responsibilities and make a direct impact on process improvement, product quality, and production efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following engineering activities :

  • Work efficiently with both operations and engineering to create and improve assembly processes, actively owning engineering responsibilities for assigned product groupings.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods to enhance production efficiency, yield, and product quality.
  • Use continuous improvement strategies to identify and implement design and process improvements for cost reduction.
  • Create and maintain BOMs and document control for new and existing designs including drawings and assembly / test procedures.
  • Work closely with design engineers, supply chain team, and production staff to support new product introductions (NPI) and process transitions.
  • Assist with analysis of production and quality problems with a goal to increase reliability and reduce rework and labor hours.

Requirements / Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical / manufacturing engineering discipline or related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role in a production environment.
  • Proven experience in factory layout, ramping, and optimization highly desired.
  • Ability to think holistically and creatively to introduce unique solutions to problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma,
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with a high proficiency in Excel.
  • Must be well organized with an ability to multitask and work on a diverse set of problems while simultaneously being on a steep learning curve.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present and discuss manufacturing information to technical and non-technical team members.
