A Carlysle Engineering Fire Protection Construction Designer is responsible for designing, coordinating the installation, and ensuring compliance of water-based fire protection suppression systems within construction projects, collaborating with general contractors, and building officials to ensure successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and Analysis :
  • Develop fire protection system layouts based on building plans, relevant NFPA and insurance underwriter codes.
  • Calculate water flow requirements for sprinkler systems and design fire alarm system layouts.
  • CAD based 3D MEP project coordination with other trades.
  • Construction Oversight :
  • Review construction documents to verify fire protection system integration and compliance with codes.
  • Conduct site inspections prior and during construction to ensure proper installation of fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors to address any installation issues and maintain project timelines.
  • Code Compliance :
  • Stay updated on local, state, and national fire safety codes and standards.
  • Interpret and apply relevant fire codes to construction projects.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals from building officials regarding fire protection systems.
  • Collaboration :
  • Work closely with general contractors, installing foreman, fabrication shop and outside superintendent to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with general contractors and other subcontractors to ensure proper installation window are maintenance to keep project schedule.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA 13, 14, 20 & 25, etc.)
  • Experience with fire protection design software (AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Strong understanding of construction practices and building methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • NICET certification for Water Based System Layout
