Credentialed School Nurse - LA County (2025-2026 School Year)

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 30+ hours / week (school hours vary by grade level)

Pay Rate : Negotiable (paid weekly)Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other factors.

Position Summary

Amergis Healthcare (formerly Amergis Healthcare Staffing) is seeking credentialed School Nurses to support student health and wellness across Los Angeles County for the 2025-2026 academic year. This role combines clinical expertise with educational collaboration to ensure students thrive in a safe, healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate student care

Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs)

Monitor and document student health status and treatment outcomes

Conduct immunization programs and health screenings

Evaluate physical and developmental status of students

Provide health counseling, including crisis intervention and support for substance abuse issues

Design and implement individualized student health maintenance plans

Refer students and families to appropriate community health resources

Participate in IEP meetings and student care conferences

Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with HIPAA

Promote disease prevention and health education in collaboration with school staff

Teach health-related subjects under teacher supervision

Consult with and train school personnel on health-related topics

Ensure compliance with state laws, educational codes, and nursing standards

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Valid California School Nurse Services Credential (Preliminary or Full)

Active RN license in California

CPR certification

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (RN, LVN, or LPN)

Minimum 1-2 years of school nursing or pediatric experience preferred

Strong communication skills and proficiency in English

Computer literacy and documentation skills

Must be at least 18 years of age

Completion of Amergis' Competency Program and new hire training

Current PPD or chest X-ray and health certificate (as required)

Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

Credential Considerations
