Job Title : Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location : Asheville, NC

Job Summary :

Seeking an experienced and compassionate PCU RN to join a high-acuity stepdown unit providing care for trauma and neuro patients. Ideal candidates are skilled in critical interventions and thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.

Unit Overview :

Unit Size : 44 beds
Staffing :

Day Shift : 2 CNC / Charge RNs, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC

Night Shift : 2 CNC / Charge RNs, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio : 4 : 1 at grid, 5 : 1 at stretch

Equipment Used : IV pumps, Skylifts, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, patient lifts

EMR System : Cerner

Typical Procedures :

Neuro and spinal assessments

C-collar and TLSO brace application

Chest tube management

PCA pump usage

IV infusions

Lumbar drain care

Feeding tube placements

Blood transfusions

Required Qualifications :

1+ year recent PCU or related acute care experience

Current ACLS , BLS , and NIHSS certifications

Proven experience with neuro and trauma patients

Preferred Experience :

Prior exposure to high-acuity stepdown or trauma units

Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Additional Info :

Floating Required : Yes - to other stepdown and med-surg units
